Emergency Procedures

According to international regulations, all passengers must become familiar with the security procedures of the ship, such as the use of life jackets and what to do in case of an emergency.

Is set off inside each cabin, with the activation of the emergency alarm
and consists of 7 short blasts followed by 1 longer blast.
How to act in the event of an emergency
- Remain calm.
- Follow all provided safety procedures.
- Always follow instructions issued by crew members.
- Refrain from smoking.
- Leave all luggage behind.
- Wear comfortable shoes (avoid high heels).

Safety Precautions and Recommendations
Recommendations to avoid accidents on board:
- Use handrails along hallways and in staircases especially while the ship is navigating through rough seas.
- Do not run on board the ship. Take extra precautions while moving through staircases, exterior areas and hallways.
- Wear comfortable shoes (low-heel shoes).
- Avoid exiting your cabin while the ship is navigating through rough seas.
Children must be supervised by the adult they are traveling with at all times. Children must be accompanied by an adult while visiting exterior deck areas and during all disembarkings. - Smoking is strictly prohibited in all cabins, bathrooms, and all interior areas of the ship. Designated smoking areas are located in the stern of the ship at the exterior of the 3rd, 4th and 5th decks.
- The use and/or transportation of illegal substances on board is strictly prohibited. We have a duty as operators in the area to report any such activity to the appropriate authorities at the next port of arrival.
- Reckless behavior, such as jumping off the ship, is strictly prohibited, as is disembarking under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Norwalk Virus, what is it and how can you prevent contamination:
- Passenger virus with minor effects, which in some cases has been observed on board cruise ships.
- Symptoms include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and stomach cramps which could last 2-3 days.
- In an effort to avoid contamination proper hand washing is recommended especially after using the bathroom, before eating, after changing diapers, and before touching your eyes, nose, or mouth.
- Australis has implemented the strictest sanitary standards to reduce the risk and spreading of the virus. Furthermore, hand sanitizers can be found at the entrance of the dining hall for passenger use.
